HPTLC fingerprinting reveals leaf and roots phytochemical variability in developmental stages of Withania somnifera

Background: Withania somnifera has been the foundation of numerous contemporary medicines today for treatment various diseases. However, phytochemical variability profile is lacking in root and leaf organs. Aim: This study was aimed to elucidate seedling, vegetative reproductive stages roots W. using High performance thin layer chromatography (HPTLC) fingerprinting. Methods: The HPTLC with dual wavelength UV (254/366 nm) used analysis variation methanolic extracts somnifera. Results: chromatograms 366 nm, 254 normal day light, exhibited bands variability. At 450 nm fingerprints seedling stage showed five peaks Rf values range 0.42 0.90, nine 0.10 0.89, six 0.30 0.92. In 0.00 0.82 stage, ten 0.96 seven 0.01 0.91 stage. roots, higher peak areas were found at (3.33%) compared (1.65%). Conclusion: comparative leaves presented that varied developmental stages.
